From Shore Road to Fifth Avenue
Bay Ridge covers a lot of ground and the pickup changes with it. Along Shore Road the buildings are pre-war elevator co-ops, most with a doorman, so laundry can be left at the desk without you being home. Move inland toward Third and Fifth Avenues and it becomes a mix of walk-up apartments over the storefronts and brownstones with a stoop — for those, the top step or the vestibule is the usual spot.
The R train corridor between 86th Street and Bay Ridge Avenue is our busiest stretch here, and it's mostly households sending a weekly wash-and-fold rather than one-off loads. Bay Ridge is also where we get the most pressed-shirt work: the commute into Manhattan means a lot of shirts, and they come back on hangers with your starch preference remembered from the last order.
Family houses on the numbered streets send the heaviest bags — bedding, kids' clothes, sports kit — and those often go out on a standing weekly window rather than a one-off booking. Same rate either way; the standing window just means you stop thinking about it.
Third and Fifth Avenues are a solid run of restaurants, bars, cafés and salons, and a growing share of our Bay Ridge route is commercial. Kitchens send chef coats, aprons and table linen; bars send bar mops and staff shirts; the salons and barbershops along Third send towels and capes, usually daily.
