Quiet Streets, Easy Pickups

Bath Beach is the calmer end of our route. Between Bath Avenue and the Belt, the streets are mostly one- and two-family houses with driveways and front steps, which makes it one of the simplest neighborhoods to collect from — the bag waits on the step and the driver is in and out. The apartment buildings near Cropsey Avenue and 86th Street work the usual way, buzzer and apartment number.

Proximity to the water shows up in the laundry. Coats and jackets come in salt-marked through the winter, and bedding turns over faster than average because of the damp. Both are ordinary work here rather than special requests.

Being on the quieter side of the route also means the windows are easier to get. Bath Beach rarely fills up the way the bay side does at weekends, so a same-week Saturday booking is usually still available when other neighborhoods are full.

Bath Avenue and the retail around Ceasar's Bay bring a steady commercial side to this route — delis, restaurants, cafés and shops sending aprons, towels and staff uniforms.
